  • Carlton Peak: One of the highest points along the North Shore, this challenging hike in Temperance River State Park is worth the effort for its expansive views of Lake Superior at the top. 

  • Poplar River Falls: This gentle 3-mile hike starting and ending at the Caribou Highlands Lodge leads to a picturesque waterfall. This is a great choice for a peaceful, relatively flat walk.
